A New Blouse

The sewing frenzy continues!  I took a short break yesterday but spent almost all day sewing today.  I started a new blouse on Thursday.  I knew it would take longer because it was a little more intricate than an easy-peasy skirt, but I still wanted to finish it for this Sunday.  I made Simplicity 2854 which looks like this:

 

I've made it twice before so it wasn't too difficult.  I made the poofy short sleeve version (they are in the middle row), but I also added the bust ruffle shown on the model.   Unfortunately, I had only sizes 16 and larger and I needed a 14 so it is still a little too big, but I thought it turned out pretty well.  

But to be honest, when I put the sleeves on and tried it on I was surprised.  The sleeves were way, way too long and too big.  Oh well.  I didn't have any more fabric to make more and I didn't want to cut them off and have to figure out some other way of finishing it.  I also realize that you can't actually tell what the blouse actually looks like because of the pattern of the fabric.  Let me assure you, in real life, it reminds me of a blouse from the 70s too.
