Saturdays are typically a sewing day for me. When my Saturday is free I almost always sit down and make something new to wear for the next day (Sunday). You would think that if I did this every Saturday then my closet would be totally full. Sadly, I don't get to do it 52 times a year but today I did (and my closet is only almost full). I chose a fabric that I purchased in Amish country and made a skirt I had made before: a simple three tiered skirt. Nothing too fancy about it.
I really like butterfly prints. I have at least three skirts that have butterflies on them. I liked this print because it was more randomized than other prints I've seen. The fabric seemed unique in style and color and it was only $3.00/yd = $5.00 skirt.
I had some ric-rac lying around from a project I finished yesterday and I was lucky because there was enough to embellish the middle seam.
Here's a close up of the ric-rac and the decorative stitch I used for the hemline and upper seam.
I don't really have a blouse to wear with it but I think I can find something that remotely matches this skirt. That's the problem with skirt-making-not having blouses that match. I think it's time to go buy a white blouse that will match everything!
Very pretty fabric - I love the machine stitching. :-}
