Norwegian Flettehjerter

I love Norway!  Who doesn't?  Well I guess it helps that I actually lived there and experienced life there.  You know what I love more than Norway??  Christmas in Norway!  What a great time that was.  These flettehjetter remind me of Norway so much.  I wouldn't say that everybody had these, but a lot of people did.  About 7 years ago I bought a set at the local Unicef store and they have graced my Christmas tree ever since.  They were already punched out on paper and all I had to do was weave them-super easy.

So three weeks ago I got the great idea to make some of these for my upcoming craft fair.  It was not as easy as I remember.  I had to take apart two of the existing flettehjerter so I could use them as a pattern.  Luckily I was doing all of this at work and one of my co-workers gave me the idea of making a paper template.  So I did and it saved me a lot of time.   I made a template for three large hjerter and two small hjerter.

I dug up some red and green printer paper I had from a million years ago, made copies, and started cutting.  It was much more tedious than I thought it would be but I persevered.  No less than four people asked what I was doing and wanted to know more about them.  One person even said that they wanted one right then.  Sadly they will have to wait until after the craft fair.

I didn't make very many but it should be enough.  I used all my paper except one sheet of red so I would need to buy more paper if I wanted to make more anyway.

I glued the hanger to the flettehjerte and it is ready for action.  See how it makes a basket?  If it were stronger than printer paper I would consider putting goodies inside it.
